On 11/1/22 we went out scouting. A storm was moving in on the 2nd and 3rd. We went to our honey holes and caught 12 small mouths, 3 stripers, and 6 catfish. the baits we used were frozen anchovies and double-tail hula grubs. The water temperature is dropping, it’s now around 62 degrees, still a good temp to catch lots of fish. We started out fishing about 40 to 50 feet down and as the morning went on we dropped to 60 to 70+ feet. It’s tough to get out there early but we are out there around sunrise. We haven’t been fishing in the afternoons yet. As it gets colder we will give afternoons a try.
We went out on Friday 11/4/22 with a few people and caught 6 nice stripers, a couple of them were 3 to 4 pounds. We caught several catfish, one of them was right around 10 pounds, it took around 7 to 8 minutes to get it in the boat. We couldn’t get both hands around its head. The picture doesn’t do it justice. One fella had a striper on that kept taking out the drag. He fought it for about 10 minutes before it broke the line. His pole was bent over and in the water, several times as the drag went out. If you ever get a big one on remember to only reel when he lets up pulling. Never try and reel when the drag is going out. We missed lots of fish that day. Usually, the day after a big cold front goes thru the fishing isn’t all that great, but that day was the exception. The fishing was very good. There is still time to get out there and catch some smallmouth, cats, stripers, and maybe a largemouth. give us a call if you want to catch fish. Mike 928-660-1020. Good Luck and Tight Lines!!
