Lake Powell Fishing Report April 24

Well this has been a really strange year mainly because of the weather! Cold temperatures and lots of wind have kept the surface temperatures down on the lake! We started in March trolling for stripers in Navajo and did pretty good. The problem with trolling is that only two rods can be in the water at once, but we were successful in catching the fish. We also found other places to troll right in Wahweap bay and Warm Creek with the same report. We also caught a few small mouth bass here and there. There was a few days where we only caught 2 fish! One of the days we caught a 2 1/2 walleye while trolling and the other day a 3.14 pound walleye trolling in shallow water! Just in the last few days have we been able to catch stripers on anchovies. We are hoping that the water temperature comes up with the warmer days ahead. That should get the stripers, largemouth and smallmouth bass really biting. The water temperature we want is 60 to 63 degrees. That’s when the fish start spawning! Good luck everyone!
